
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
LEADERS
¨ Are expected to attend
monthly prayer/planning sessions, individual club meetings, as well as club
nights.
¨ Be well acquainted with
their curriculum. No one is allowed to
deviate from the Awana curriculum at this time.
¨ Know and understand the
awards for your club.
¨ Spend whatever time
necessary each week preparing for the next club meeting. Know your assigned duties.
¨ Encourage children to
fully participate in Awana.
¨ Ensure all the kids in
your group are adhering to our club rules.
¨ Keep records of students’
progress and achievements in the handbooks.
¨ Get to know the kids in
your group and be a role model to them.
Have a genuine interest in their lives.
Keep in mind that you are their spiritual guide.
¨ You, too, should complete
the entrance booklet and handbooks for your club. Recite your scripture to a fellow leader or one or your students
and have them sign your book. The same rules apply to you that apply to the
children.
¨ Assist/participate in all
planned field trips and Awana events
¨ Cooperate and work with
the Director so that every meeting and activity is a success. Always try to make a positive contribution.
¨ Be in uniform for weekly
club meetings. There is a fine of $1.00
for not wearing your uniform effective immediately. The money will go into the AWANA account and will be used to
purchase supplies for our club.
¨ Seek to improve your
personal leadership capabilities through training, scripture memorization and
personal study.
¨ Pray. Pray for your clubbers, fellow leaders and
yourself.
DIRECTORS
¨ Attend monthly meetings
with the commander.
¨ Maintain a regular
schedule of leaders’ meeting for training, problem solving, planning and
prayer.
¨ Set a personal example for
leaders through leadership training, Scripture memorization, and enthusiasm for
youth work.
¨ Encourage and develop
leaders, both spiritually and practically.
¨ Plan and oversee the
activities of each club meeting. Make
sure all leaders in your club understand their weekly duties as they pertain to
your club (council time rotation, acting director in your absence, etc)
¨ Prepare weekly, monthly
and yearly plans for your club. Refer
to your director’s manuals and the Awana website for ideas on crafts, field
trips, Lifeline events, etc. There are
forms and guidelines in your directors’ book.
¨ Submit your written plans
to the Commander.
¨ During handbook time: be a
coordinator. Stop by each handbook
group. Assist as needed. Maintain order and discipline while
enforcing club standards. Make sure the
session ends on time.
¨ During game time: Encourage teams and assist with games as
needed. Know what game is being
played. Maintain order and discipline. Make sure it ends on time.
¨ During council time: Emcee council time unless you’ve trained
another leader to handle that responsibility.
Present awards and make announcements.
If you’re not giving the council time message, sit with your clubbers
and help maintain order and discipline.
Try to be available to lead a boy or girl to Christ if the opportunity
arises. Make sure it ends on time.
¨ Enforce club standards and
policies that have been determined by the commander (Volunteer Covenant,
Expectations for Excellence)
¨ Work to achieve club
goals.
¨ Maintain club records with
assistance of the club secretaries
¨ Keep track of supplies
needed/in stock and order in timely manner.
¨ Develops and supervises an
ongoing personal contact ministry, including mailing, telephoning, and visiting
clubbers and their parents.
¨ Evaluate the club program
regularly to see if progress is being made toward achieving goals.
¨ Pray.
