What's so Special about being Baptist?
One of the things we must be clear about is the distinction between what I call being a Baptist Christian and a Christian who is Baptist. On the surface this may appear to be a non-issue and one that need not be discussed. However, to come to such a conclusion would be playing into the Devil's hand. His aim is that we lose focus of who we are in Christ and subsequently how we are united to each other. In doing so, the unity needed in order to project effectively the message of salvation would be lost. The fact of the matter is that too many Baptists, as well as other denominations, are willing to put the organization above the Organism--the church of Jesus Christ. Sad to say that the history of our individual local church, its founders, achievements and such are better known than the Doctrines that make us who we are in Christ. The greatest obstacle as to why the world rejects the Christian message is the division that exists between believers by way of denominations. The question of who's right is a legitimate one of the world and deserves our utmost attention. What will be our answer to them? As we study the history of our denomination, each reader is strongly encouraged to examine why they are Baptist. Take the facts that will be forthcoming to this page, to follow, sift them, shake them and test them against Scripture, and let God's Word be the determining factor as to whether or not you are in the right faith or not. This is the only way that any person will be able to bolding stand without wavering and respond to those who ask the question.
